Background[]
There is very little combat/survival/tactical training in the world's armed forces that Frank Castle has not received. He achieved the rank of captain in the US Marine Corps during his third tour of duty in vietnam. After he returned home to his family, he survived an attack by a crime syndicate in a public park, although his Wife and children were murdered. After that time he perfected his mission and became The Punisher, a singular force working to rid the world of criminals, in particular organized crime and drug dealers. He has always worked primarily as a solo operation, but has worked with various others on occasion when necessary.
Personality[]
Frank is stoic determination and purpose personified. He is unfaltering in his mission as an instrument of punishment for the wicked. He has no aversion to killing when it is merited. He has no aversion to torture when it is merited. He is incapable of fear, he is numb to pain. He has a soft spot for innocent victims, especially children and mothers. He has a great respect for people who honestly protect others, and goes out of his way to avoid collateral damage. He often has to neutralize such people when they are obstacles to his greater purpose, but he tries to do so with as little permanent damage as possible. He is quiet and serious. He is honest and patriotic. He has a strong sense of civic duty, and no love of the mission he was singularly dedicated to. In a situation where there is no-one to punish, Frank would stay vigilant, but would quickly ease into a productive role of some sort. He isn't lazy and he doesn't complain. When action is required, he acts. He is a constant analytical thinker who is always aware of his surroundings. He can be emotionally distant, but he is not without feelings or needs.
